When the cooling tower is in operation, the cooling water is susceptible to environment pollution. Closed circuit cooling towers are used to avoid the generating of deposits and scales because of the direct contact between the cooled fluid and air. This will avoid clogging and corroding problems. This closed circuit cross flow tower is required in those areas with poor water quality or when the cooled fluid or equipment will tolerate no pollution at all.
The LCC model uses a cross-flow and low noise design with light modular assembly and structure so that the installation can be easily completed on site.
The steel parts are hot dipped galvanized and the side plates and inlet louvers are made of UPVC plastic that is UV resistant. The fan stack, water basin and access door are all made of fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP).
We have applied a new heat exchanger and spraying method to tremendously increase the heat transfer efficiency. It can save 15% of space and weight compared to conventional towers. All the piping connections are on the lower part of the cold water basin.
High-efficient and low-noise fans are applied to go with the new heat exchanger rendering low static pressure and least power consumption.
Cooling water is circulating in the coils without any contact with the ambient air so that the water can be kept clean. Also, it prevents the condenser and pipes from scaling which would affect thermal performance. The condenser can perform efficiently so that the power consumption is low. The frequent cleaning is not necessary and the maintenance cost can be decreased.
Please note: These cooling towers start at 50 nominal ton

Please note: In addition to our closed circuit cooling tower we have an alternate system using a plate heat exchanger for the hot closed side and an open cooling tower to remove heat from the heat exchanger. This is a more cost effective, energy efficient system and will extend the life of the equipment with less maintenance problems compared to the closed loop system. This alternate system will require two water pumps- one for the hot closed side and one for the open cold side. Please contact the sales office if you are interested in our alternate system.

CTS, Inc. also manufacturers our LRC-N Model Square Crossflow Cooling Towers.
Inlet Louver & Side Plates
PVC inlet louver and FRP sides are anti-acid, anti-alkaline, weather-proof, anti-corrosive, resistant to Ultra-violet, non-twisted and non-deformed.
Water Sump
The water sump is made of FRP material and externally supported with hot-dipped-galvanized steel. The piping of water sump includes outlet water, auto filler pipe, quick filler pipe, overflow pipe and drain pipe. The stainless steel suction strainer is installed on outlet pipe to blockage the alien objects from entering. The basin partitions can be additionally installed for multiple cells so that the tower can be cleaned or maintained for the individual cell or partially, without affecting the operation of the whole system.
Plenum
The heat exchanging process of cross flow type is applied. The direct contact between horizontal air from both inlet sides and the falling water from hot water basin occurs inside the PVC fillings so that the heat can be rejected from the tower by the fan. The access door and walkway equipped inside
the tower are to insure the convenience of maintenance and cleaning.
Motor
Outdoor TEFC motors are applied.
Fan Driving Unit
The axial fan design is applied and the air volume can be adjusted based on actual operation. The speed reducer is driven with multi-belts to insure large contact area, low vibration and smooth transmission. The belts are protected with FRP casing so that they are not wetted and not gliding.
Filling
PVC fillings are vacuum-formed and glued together on nipple ends so that there is adequate space to avoid scaling and clogging. Thus, the water can be evenly distributed to insure good heat exchanging. Each layer of filling blocks has steel supporters to prevent from deforming and falling off. The bottom are designed with suspended supporters to avoid depositing various objects and scaling so that cooling towers can be ease of maintenance and cleaning.
Distribution System
Hot water basins are installed on two sides of tower and distribution water is gravitationally falling into tower with low water pressure. This design leads the water to spread into the fillings evenly and achieve the best efficiency of heat exchanging. FRP distribution box inside can lower the inlet water pressure to prevent the water from splashing.
Float Valve Ass'y
The bronze float valve ass'y is equipped inside the water basin and adjustable for controlling normal water level during operation.
Water Eliminators
The Z type water eliminators are placed on the top of filling to insure best water elimination efficiency and help to save the makeup water by reducing drifting loss.

Accessories
Water Pumps:
CTS has a quality line of water pumps, specially designed for our cooling towers. This product line allows users to maintain higher levels of efficiency over a wider range of operating conditions. Light weight and low noise. Suction and discharge connections are inline designed in the same size as towers to simplify piping in any direction for installation. All water pumps come with a TEFC motor for outdoor use.
Heat Exchangers:
Structure a system that combines a cooling tower with a plate heat exchanger, and you'll save money from day one. You'll also get a system that maintains effective fluid isolation and cools HVAC or process liquids more efficiently. A tower system with a heat exchanger is far less expensive to buy than any evaporative cooler. Couple the tower and the heat exchanger, and you also get a more efficient system that's cheaper to run, incorporates superior stainless steel components, uses colder water (not glycol), and requires smaller components — including heat pumps — with lower horsepower.
Immersion Heaters:
CTS has developed a full line of winterization kits. We provide both screw type heaters with thermostats and bottom mount heaters with control panels. These are installed in the basin of the cooling tower to protect them from freezing during the cold weather months.
Cooling tower operation is often required in freezing weather for either comfort air conditioning in the central core of a large building, or for industrial processes. To protect the cooling tower from freezing during shutdown periods, Cooling Tower Systems has developed a full line of winterizing heaters. Those shown in this section are used when heat distribution is required over a long length, or when a bottom mount construction is required, as in ceramic, concrete or fiberglass basin. 2" pipe thread heaters, with copper tubular elements are commonly used in the sump when full-length distribution is required.
Storage Tanks:
Above ground, horizontal and vertical storage tanks are available for the purpose of storing water during the hot or cold weather months. Features tie-down slots, built-in graduation gallon-count indicators, siphon tube, offset fill-well and self-vented, slosh proof lids. Vertical storage tanks are most frequently used for nursing mobile application equipment and bulk storage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How are you able to provide a 20 year warranty on the FRP? That's longer than any other manufacturer warranty in the industry today.
A. Our FRP (fiberglass reinforced polyester) is mixed with a gel coating that strengthens and protects it from the UV (ultraviolet) light rays in the ozone. This provides a higher resistance to rot and decay to all FRP portions of the cooling towers in extreme climate environments.
Q. What makes CTS more energy efficient than other cooling tower manufacturers?
A. CTS' FRP counter-flow induced draft cooling towers have a 360 degree air intake within the center of the cooling tower. This allows more fresh air supply than a conventional, cross-flow or counter-flow cooling tower- which only draw air from two sides of the system. This allows for our counter-flow induced draft cooling towers to have less fan motor horsepower per ton when compared to a conventional cooling tower.
Q. How do I size my cooling tower?
A. There are different ways to size a cooling tower. The most efficient way is to provide us with a design condition to include entering and leaving water temperatures, total flow rate and wet bulb temperature or location (city, state & country) of where the cooling tower will be put to use.
If you only need to expel a BTU heat load, our model T-2 counter-flow induced draft cooling towers expel 15,000 BTU/hr per ton on 60Hz. Ex. If you need to expel 45,000 BTU, you would need our model T-23. 45,000 / 15,000 = 3 Nominal Tons
*If cooling tower is hooked up to 50Hz, it will only expel 12,000 BTU/hr per ton. Ex. If you need to expel 36,000 BTU, you would need our model T-23. 36,000 / 12,000 = 3 Nominal Tons
Q. When should we use a single cell system vs. a multi-cell system?
A. A single cell system is used when the thermal performance requirements do not fluctuate throughout the year. CTS recommends using a multi-cell system in situations where the thermal performance requirements vary throughout the year. This allows one cooling tower to be valved off and be used independently which results in energy savings and also extends the life of the equipment.
Q. What is the difference between a closed loop systems (fluid cooling tower) and an open cooling tower?
A. A closed loop system, or fluid cooling tower, is used for process cooling to keep all fluids contained from any outside elements. An open cooling tower does have an evaporation process and fresh water make up through out the system that brings outside elements into the water supply.
Q. When should I consider a high temperature cooling tower?
A. Our standard counter-flow induced draft fiberglass reinforced polyester cooling towers can withstand a maximum temperature of 130 degree Fahrenheit. All temperatures above 130 degrees Fahrenheit, needs to be provided to the sales office so we can select and guarantee a cooling tower that will meet your high temperature requirements.
Q. To answer your questions below for using a cooling tower for winter use in freezing conditions, you will have to be mindful of the following:
A. 1. When cooling tower is used year round in a cold climate, the most preferred method is to not use the cold water basin of the cooling tower. This cooling tower will be installed outside and elevated to where all process water will gravity fall into a remote sump located inside a controlled atmosphere. This way, when you shut your system down (and if plumbed properly) it will leave no standing water in the cold water basin to freeze.
A. 2. We do offer immersion heaters with thermostats, that are installed into the cold water basin that will cycle on and off at specified temperatures to keep the process water in your water basin from freezing.
A. 3. It is very common for people in the industry to use small amounts of glycol solution in your process water to help keep piping and plumbing of water basin open. This will aid in preventing freezing water. Just keep in mind, if using a glycol solution on a year round basis, that the glycol solution does not evaporate. Therefore, you will need to oversize your equipment to compensate for the glycol
