Aluminum extrusions have 4 times the yield and tensile strength of aluminum sheets allowing these doors to be built in custom sizes. In fact, these doors have been built up to 20' tall in some of the most grueling environments in the world.
These commercial doors are structurally rigid yet flexible in design. A rough and tough door design used on the front of office facilities and schools. The glazing capabilities, along with no need for through-bolting hardware, allow this door to be installed anywhere on a building faCade.

Projects
St. Joseph High School, located in St. Joseph, Michigan, on the shores of Lake Michigan; was designed by Hebard & Hebard Architects, S. Bend, Indiana. The glass & glazing contractor was J.W. Werntz and Son, Inc., S. Bend, IN.
This project consisted of a major renovation and up-grade of the existing high school; creating an attractive learning environment for the student, staff, and community. The design choices utilized Cross Aluminum Products custom fabrication abilities to create entrances with structural integrity, durability, and low maintenance. A champagne anodized finish was chosen for the entrance, to accent other colorful custom features of the building, such as the roof canopy. Thus, providing an inviting eye appeal entering the main foyer and office area.
Cross Aluminum Products fabricated the entrance utilizing our WS-500 series heavy duty stile & rail custom doors and frame systems. To facilitate speed and accuracy of field installation, much of the frame was delivered to the job site intact. Cross Aluminum factory installed much of the hardware, provided by others, to guarantee hardware location and accuracy, allowing for less field labor time for the glass & glazing contractor.
The result is a beautiful main entrance to St. Joseph high school, that should stand the test of time, for years to come.
This beautifully designed project located in Dowagiac, Michigan blends well into our small midwestern community environment. Cross Aluminum, working in conjunction with Battle Creek Glass Works, were able to complete this rustic, yet eloquent, main entrance to “The Timbers".
Utilizing our heavy-duty WS-500 series stile & rail doors, 2" x 4-1/2" storefront frame system, low E insulated glass with muntins in the glass, coordinates well with the wood beam structural features designed by the architect.
This main entrance design changes what often time can simply be an institutional looking building into a warm, aesthetically pleasing facility within the community.
Heavy Duty Stile & Rail Glass Door Entrances
Purdue University has a rich American history dating back to July 2 1862, when President Abraham Lincoln signed the Morrill Act. By signing this act, the United States government proposed to deed over public lands to any state that would use the earnings from their sale to provide and support a college to teach agriculture and mechanic arts. Thanks to a local Lafayette businessman, visionary John Purdue, who many consider the founder, because of his generous $150,000.00 donation and honoring him by titling the university, Purdue University.
Today, Purdue University is world renowned for agriculture, engineering but all so its great astronauts, Nobel Prize winners, alma mater of college and corporation presidents. Many bright eyed, degree minded young men and women continually pass through the same doorways with diploma in hand, since its inception.
Western Michigan University needed a heavy-duty entrance to be installed into a larger curtainwall system. An automatic door operator was also to be part of this package. The finish was an off white painted finish.
ross Aluminum fabricated our heavy-duty WS-500 series stile & rail doors, and sub-frame that Lakeshore Glass & Metal installed into the curtain wall frame. To help coordinate, and make sure the painted finish of all the components of this entrance, matched.
As a service to our customers, Cross Aluminum sent the automatic operator cover, that was provided by others, to our painting firm, so that it could be painted at the same time with our door and frame extrusions. Fifteen (15) years later this entrance is functioning well, and still looks like new.
A YMCA is a busy place, and the Niles/Buchanan YMCA is certainly a testimony to that fact. Of course, the entrances to this facility needed to compliment the architect's attractive building design, withstand the heavy traffic flow, and yet remain maintenance free.
The main entrances throughout the facility utilized Cross Aluminum Products MS-400 series medium stile & rail doors and storefront frames, while several service entrances required our heavy-duty aluminum FL-400 series flush doors and frames. A standard clear anodize finish was selected by the architect.
Cross Aluminum Products entrances compliment the overall glass & glazing design, installed by Midwest Glass & Glazing, in completing the project. This original phase one was designed to incorporate additional phases in the future. Now, fifteen years later, the community is anticipating and looking forward to the construction of those additional phases. The original entrances in phase one remain in very good condition, and should be easily matched for the future phases.
Andrews University was established in 1874. For over a century, the university has strategically developed a campus rich with historical buildings nestled in a wooded environment. So when they decided to expand their center for many of their Arts and Sciences departments, the university hired the Troyer Group of Mishawaka, Indiana to design what would become Buller Hall, which would include an amphitheater-style classroom, a small chapel, a student lounge, academic departmental lobbies with fireplaces, and many classrooms. The Hall would act as an extension of their 60-year-old Nethery Hall. They needed to maintain the historical campus look while providing their students a bright, inviting, and comfortable place to learn. The door entrances also needed to look new and inviting, but with a historical flare. The design also needed to be energy efficient, but still allow natural light to fill the interior, creating an inviting place to learn and mingle. The combined efforts of Troyer Group, CSM Group of Kalamazoo (project Managers), Midwest Glass of Stevensville, Michigan, and Cross Aluminum completed this task by using our WS-500-FG and FL-400 series doors, T14000 series arched framing, glazed with insulated glass/muntins. The finish was a two coat Kynar 70% bone white finish.
