For panel widths over 48″ a vertical support of 1/8″ x 1″ flat bar is center mounted to improve wind load and security. This is our laser cut panel with a colored or non-colored sheet of acrylic slid between either mirrored images of laser cut sheets or backing one laser cut sheet. This laser cut aluminum sheet with diffusing acrylic sheet allows light to illuminate the cut pattern of the metal sheets. This modern artistic design provides a sophisticated gallery quality to the laser cut designs. PalmSHIELD uses only the highest quality acrylic sheet, ACRYLITE FF 3 mm or 5 mm sheet with a tensile strength of 10,000 psi. Playgrounds are creative environments for children to have fun, play, grow, learn, and socialize. These wonderful spaces should never pose a threat to our children. Today's playground and community leaders have published and even enacted into law many documents to protect children from hazards on playgrounds, most notably the CPSC Handbook for Public Playground Safety and ASTM Standards. Many states have adopted one or both of these into law, either in their entirety or certain portions. PalmSHIELD's PlaySAFE playground fencing meets these standards in providing screening solutions that provide a safe barrier that both prevent children from inappropriately leaving the playground while assuring children do not get hurt by the screening. The ASTM – F2049 fencing standard sets out to minimize the likelihood of injury or death on today's playgrounds. A primary concern is vehicular intrusion into a playground. A vehicle rolling or traveling into the play area. Another concern is kids climbing a fence, squeezing through openings (in it or under it) and running away from a play area and into a street or nearby body of water. The appropriate screening or fencing should also deter baseballs, soccer balls and other intrusions from striking children while playing. The standard also addresses the minimum height (48 inches based on kids under 5 years old) for a gate latch in order to “limit or delay" a child from opening the gate.

PalmSHIELD's DANTE mechanical equipment screening incorporates both welded and woven wire mesh. Wires are woven together to create wire mesh in different patterns. Welded wire mesh simply lays the vertical wires over the top of the horizontal wires and uses a welding process that fuses the two wires together. The most common materials used to create woven wire and welded wire mesh include carbon steel, galvanized steel, aluminum mesh and stainless steel. Heavier woven wires must be pre-crimped. The material remains very strong and firm after the crimping process.

Specifically, many installations fail over time to maintain proper tension.  Imagine eleven cables, each tensioned to several hundreds of pounds of pull, pulling on one two inch square post screwed down to the top of a soft cedar deck board or stair plank.  System failure!  To prevent this mishap, PalmSHIELD uses their unique and proven fully framed panel design.  With fully framed panels, the tension is transferred to the frame and not to your deck or stairs.

PalmSHIELD cable systems are designed to be accompanied with code compliant stair grab rails.  All of our sections are custom fabricated. PalmSHIELD uses a rigid, thin cable stabilizer bar in the panels to support the long cable runs.  At changes in slope, a stabilizer bar will support the cables without the use of additional posts. Fewer posts leaves more to be desired as you look beyond the cable rail system.

ATTILA utilizes a single cable design where the cable is attached at the top of the panel and then strewn back and forth over a series of spools to a final and single tensioner at the bottom. This is a cleaner and more interesting design than traditional cable railing. It has a real architectural look for those installations that require more than a simple cable railing. Each cabled panel comes complete with fully installed cables. The panels and posts are predrilled, making installation simple and flawless. A traditional deck railing has at least four to five independent field installed cable runs that may result in system failure if the posts anchoring fails. This installation would take several days between anchoring posts and installing almost one hundred tensioners. With the PalmSHIELD system, a traditional deck railing will take a fraction of the time and no worries over failed post connections.

ELLAC is our hinged, field adjustable cable railing system. It utilizes a mechanical hinge connection at the top and bottom rail that allows the railing to field adjusted to changes in elevation and slope. In-between each rail centered between the post is a hinged slim steel profile that keeps the cables aligned and assures the cables will meet code compliance yet very discreet. This one-of-a-kind installation is perfect for large installations that may have varied slopes and radius.

RUGA, our traditional railing system is designed with square tubular posts and rails.  A bottom rail is incorporated to assure post tension does not result in post failure.  Posts on center may vary when thinner vertical rail supports are added to assure cable support every 5' o.c.   Panels are shop fabricated to the largest possible sections.  Cable are field installed. RUGA systems are your traditional railing design based on PalmSHIELD's years of experience.

PalmSHIELD is excited about our aluminum and steel bar grating railing and fence panel systems.  Bar grating is popular as a vertical infill material due to its real three dimensional appearance.  With bars varying from 1" to 1 1/2" wide, it provides a great deal of depth.  Bar Grating consists of a series of bearing bars that intersect with cross bars to form a load-bearing panel. Panels are manufactured by welding, locked by swaging, or press-locked processes. A typical panel configuration has bearing bars spaced 1-3/ 16 inches on center with cross bars spaced 4 inches apart .Bar Grating is available in a wide selection of panel sizes; bar sizes and spacings; bar shapes; and material types.

Exterior flatwork is anything but flat. That's right, we recognize that all exterior paving is sloped for drainage. Just when you think you everything was level, you discover your site paving drops ever so slightly. When this happens, you have to shim under your base plates. Owners and designers expect something more than a stack of nickels and washers. The finished design should look intentional and well thought-out.

PalmSHIELD has exactly what you need to provide that finished professional look. PalmSHIELD offers shims in two styles to be installed individually or in combination. A full-side shim for managing slopes running perpendicular or parallel to your screening run. Corner-only shims for managing slopes running diagonal to your screening runs. For more severe slopes that run diagonal, a combination of a full-side and corner-only shims may be necessary.

PalmSHIELD recognizes it is difficult to know exactly what you need. Shims are available in kits. Each kit includes three shims of the same style. The three shims will be of different thicknesses: 1/16″, 1/8″ & ¼" For more severe slopes, you may need to stack several shims or request thicker shims. Thicker shims may have a longer lead time.

All shims are fabricated from ASTM A653 galvanized sheet and then powder coated black. You may simply touch-up the sides with touch-up paint included with your PalmSHIELD screening. OR. You may request the shims be custom coated to match your PalmSHIELD screening color.

PalmSHIELD incorporates the Locinox FortyLock mortise lock into all of our gates. These industrial and polished 100% stainless steel locksets include a keyable cylinder and auto-latching mechanism. Our signature Sampson and Maximus gate frame designs require a unique locking mechanism that can accommodate a much wider door. These unique gate locks prevent the gate from being both pulled apart or forced opened.
The Locinox lockset provides a common keyable cylinder, auto latch bolt, a very stout hook latch and is re-keyable. It is available in brushed aluminum and stainless-steel finishes to complement our aluminum gate series.

The key function of drop rods is to lock a swing gate into position by dropping a metal rod into a hole in the ground. Drop rods are much easier to install on a large gate than a regular locking handle would be because you can make a larger hole to deal with alignment issues. If you are installing a double swing gate, you will need to install a cane bolt on one leaf of the gate so that it can be locked into position for the other leaf to latch against. You will simply need to dig a hole in the ground, and then line it with steel tubing or buy a ground stop.

PalmSHIELD's standard keyed internal latch is unlike any other. Our latch is keyed and accessible from both sides, and requires that it be unlocked from the same side it was locked from. The locking mechanism is also completely internal, so no need for an unsightly padlock. Only the chrome handles are face mounted on PalmSHIELD's standard latch.

PalmSHIELD has designed its own line of industrial hinges: The Gorilla Hinge. This hinge uses a half inch thick plate to mount to both the gate and gate post. The Gorilla Hinge has a slight offset on the hinge plates to allow the gate to slightly close past full close. This intended design quirk was incorporated because we realize that not everything happens exactly like you want it to in the field. We empathize with potential field irregularities and believe it is our responsibility to find a solution to offer our customers some flexibility.

These louvered panels incorporate the 3" x 1" noise dampening foam filled foil louvers that allow for an adjustable openness. When air flow is critical, these acoustical panels incorporate a varying degree of coverage with the silk metal perforated material. Wires are woven together to create wire mesh in different patterns. PalmSHIELD Tiger slide gate series combines the appeal of PalmSHIELD's architectural screening options to a commercial cantilever slide gate. This is a uncanny pairing as cantilever slide gates are truly suspended and cantilevered through the opening, not utilizing any ground supports or wheels. This means that the structural design of the gate itself must be considerable, supporting both the weight of the architectural panels and the wind load created.

The vertical framework begins with a 4" x 2" tubular outer framework encapsulating a 3" x 3" interior angle or 2" x 3" tubular U-shaped picture frame. This is an industrial and commercial gate design when aesthetics are critical. The Tiger series utilizes a upper single or double track design based on the weight and length of the opening. The bottom guide is no less than a 5" x 2" tubular member supporting the gate against wind load.
