RIO-SHIELD Primer is a 100% reactive, acrylic resin based on methyl-methacrylate (MMA) that cures in one hour. The product's low viscosity allows it to penetrate and reinforce concrete substrates. Applying RIO-SHIELD primer to properly prepared concrete is the first step to the installation of any RIO-SHIELD acrylic flooring system. RIO-SHIELD primer can also be applied to other substrates.
RIO-SHIELD Primer is designed to achieve a bond to concrete substrates that is greater than the strength of the concrete itself. This product can be used to seal and reinforce concrete surfaces but more often is used to anchor a RIO-SHIELD acrylic flooring system to a concrete substrate.
Chemically bonds concrete substrate to other RIO-SHIELD system components.
Low viscosity — penetrates and helps reinforce concrete substrates.
UV resistant.
Cures in one hour.
Cures at temperatures ranging from -15°F - 100°F.
100% reactive — VOC compliant.
On-site bond test indicates whether substrate preparation is adequate before system application.
Seamless repairability.
Compatible with moisture mitigation
RIO-SHIELD I-Component is a urethane based additive designed for use only with RIO-SHIELD methyl-methacrylate (MMA) based primers. I-Component is required with all MMA based primers as it dramatically increases the ability to bond to all substrates. I-Component is an on-site additive, because it reduces the shelf life of MMA based primers significantly. I-Component should be added and mixed with MMA based primers immediately before adding BPO (Powder Hardener). In no case should the use of I-Component be considered a substitute for proper preparation of the substrate. Performing bond tests in several areas of every RIO-SHIELD installation is always necessary.
RIO-DECK BTUFF 308 is is a two component, fast setting, rapid curing, solvent free, flexible, high performance, high solids, urethane-elastomer base membrane that can be applied to prepared interior or exterior concrete, plywood and metal surfaces. Due to its fast gel time, B-Tuff 308 is suitable for applications in temperatures as low as 20°F (-6.7°C). It may be applied in a single application or in multiple applications. B-Tuff 308 is also relatively insensitive to moisture and temperature, allowing applications in various temperatures and humidity. Please use the correct product grade that complies with VOC regulations as per federal, state, county and city regulations/codes at the place of installation of product.

RIO-GEL is a highly thixotropic, 100% solids epoxy gel ideal for quickly patching “bug holes", cracks, divots and other minor deformities in concrete slabs. Used by itself for periodic concrete maintenance, or under other RIO Systems as part of the slab preparation process, RIO-GEL exhibits superior compressive strength and wear properties with no shrinkage.
Upgrading automotive plant flooring is crucial for maintaining a safe, efficient and productive work environment. The flooring in these facilities must withstand heavy machinery, chemical spills, and high traffic while also ensuring the safety of employees and the efficiency of operations.
However, the process of upgrading automotive plant flooring is daunting, especially when downtime or halting production is not an option. Removing existing flooring, preparing the base, installing new flooring, and allowing for curing time presents challenges and disrupts regular operations.
Automotive flooring must also have a high-gloss, reflective finish, so operators quickly identify gears, spills and hazards. Additionally, the need for battery charging areas for electric forklifts, and smooth surfaces where robots operate further complicates the process.
Read on to learn how to upgrade automotive plant flooring without halting production.
Leading food retailer reduces downtime, minimizes lost sales and improves safety by hiring RIO Flooring to re-surface floors in hundreds of its food-preparation areas nationwide.
The Company
Our customer is a US nationwide retailer with over 600 stores. Each store features multiple food-preparation areas, including bakeries, meat-prep areas, milk coolers, and food courts.
The Situation
The retailer faced significant wear and tear on their floors. These areas undergo constant use, with heavy equipment, carts, and trolleys causing the concrete to become porous, slippery, and difficult to clean. This not only posed a safety risk, but also affected operational efficiency.
The Solution
RIO Flooring specializes in providing high-quality flooring solutions, particularly for demanding retail, commercial and industrial environments. With expertise in installing and resurfacing floors in various settings, RIO Flooring is known for its durability, safety, and efficiency.
